Toyota CAMRY Hybrid 2019 - review, test drive a car.

Toyota CAMRY is considered one of the iconic cars in Russia, Ukraine and other countries of the former Soviet Union. For example, in Ukraine, the model became the best in 2019.
But, as they say, there are spots in the sun. The main disadvantage of Camry was that the engine line of this model consisted of one single 2.5-liter gasoline uni. 

Now the Japanese have corrected the situation as they have finished the hybrid line to the motor line.

We will find out how much the hybrid is more dynamic, and most importantly, more economical than the usual 2.5-liter gasoline engine in this article.

Overview, car features

Petrol-electric CAMRY is offered only in the top-end Premium version, so there is enough modern equipment here.
It was not much different from the standard version, the main differences were the nameplates on the front and back with a blue border and the presence of HYBRID inscriptions on the wings.


The new hybrid has a standard 2.5 liter unit, an electric motor, and nickel-metal hydride batteries. The total power of this system is 218 hp.

However, the hybrid is artificially limited to a maximum speed of 180 km / h, while the gasoline version can accelerate to 210 km / h.

The power plant is aggregated almost with a planetary gear and this has a positive effect on a comfortable ride.

The cabin has an excellent JBL audio system with nine speakers and a subwoofer.

There is also a wireless charging system for mobile phones, adaptive cruise control and automatic braking.
In the hybrid CAMRY there are even blinds in the radiator grille that close to quickly warm up the motor.

And the car has 10 liters less fuel tank, but the trunk has not changed - 469 liters, just like a chic stock in the back row.


But this is not surprising, but how easy the hybrid Camry jumps from a place from a minimal pressure on the gas

pedal. Those. squeezed a little and the car immediately goes much faster.

In the place of the tachometer in the car is an arrow showing the transmission modes. When moving, she briskly moves in different directions, which at first is not even familiar. 

And it seems that the hybrid CAMRY is a bit stiffer than the regular gasoline version

The reason is that the suspension of the new model is not yet adapted for our roads. It is European - 145 mm, against 155 for the usual gasoline version. 

It is clear that the main advantage of thehybrid is not the best dynamics, but the best environmental friendliness and profitability. And of course, passenger comfort.

If you believe the technical specifications, the new CAMRY is able to spend half as much as the regular gasoline version, which is 4.5 liters per 100 kilometers. And in some driving modes - 4.2 liters. The dynamics of acceleration to 100 km / h - 8.3 seconds.
Of course, the best aerodynamics also help, as the bottom of the car is completely sewn up.

But it’s clear that the more congestion the hybrid is capable of driving exclusively on electrics and themore traffic, the more it saves due to, among other things, energy recovery (from the word - return).

This happens when braking. But many may not like this option, since when braking there is no familiar linear sensation, you definitely cannot calculate the braking distance. 

But all the same, it should be recognized that the hybrid rides much better than the usual Camry gasoline.
